Stiff shoulders is a general term for sensations such as heavy, pain, stiff, and strain when the muscles are fatigue.

The causes of stiff shoulders are related to human bone structure. Human spine is articulated with 24 vertebrae. They are divided into three parts, neck(cervical spine), back(thoracic spine), low back(lumber spine). Cervical spine is made of seven vertebrae. A major characteristic of cervical spine is that range of motion in back and forth, side to side, and turning covers widely.

Cervical spine supports head, which weighs 3 - 4 Kilograms for an adult. Cervical spine gets a lot of stress to make a motion while it supports head.

Naturally, the muscles to support cervical spine create strain and fatigue. The muscles connect to shoulder joints, which has wide range of motion, also in constant activity of supporting arms. They are under heavy stress as well.

Major muscles surrounding neck and shoulders are trapezius muscles, deltoid, levator scapulae muscle, supraspinatus muscle, infraspinatus muscle. There are layers of these muscles to support weight and activity of neck and shoulders. When the muscles creates fatigue, it leads to stiff shoulders.

When the distortion is adjusted, the stiffness disappears.

If the stiffness is not treated properly, the condition can develop aggravation of various symptoms such as numbness, paralysis, brain hypertension, headache, tinnitus, nausea, and a cerebrovascular disease, etc.
The medical treatment at the level of feeling stiffness or pain is not focused on the muscles.
It is necessary to make an adjustment on a leaning cervical vertebra to become independent, and to secure the stability of the spine and the pelvis because they support a cervical vertebrae.
There is a cause for the stiffness. If a muscle are loosened easily, it may cause a critical state.
It is necessary to adjust a frame structure to resolve the stiffness of muscles.
